Adopt the Community Preservation Act, and save what you love about Beverly.

Picture
The Community Preservation Act (CPA) is a valuable tool for protecting the qualities that make Beverly a great place to live - access to trails and open space for a healthy lifestyle, a rich collection of historic buildings, parks, and monuments that reflect our shared heritage, and a diversity of housing types for all residents. Without a dedicated source of funding, these qualities are at risk, putting our community at risk. Voting to pass CPA is a commitment to community.

What is CPA?
The Community Preservation Act (CPA) enables communities to create a local, dedicated fund for open space, historic preservation, affordable housing and outdoor recreation projects. Cities and towns that adopt the act also receive funds from the statewide Community Preservation Trust Fund each year for these projects.

Community Preservation Beverly is asking for your support to adopt the CPA in 2012. Beverly's local funds would come from a 1% surcharge on property taxes, with two exemptions:
  • low-income residents and moderate-income seniors
  • first $100,000 of everyone's residential property value

The cost to most homeowners in Beverly will be $26-39 each year.

Beverly can raise over $750,000 in the first year alone!
